This full-day adventure will take you to discover an underground world of geological wonders, hidden rivers, and crystal-clear cenotes. We pick you up at your hotel in downtown Oaxaca at no additional cost to begin a unique exploration beneath the surface.

With departure at 8:00 AM and an approximate return at 7:00 PM, this experience is designed for the curious, adventurers, and nature lovers. We will descend into the depths to admire ancient formations, walk through natural passageways, and, if you wish, swim in the refreshing waters of a hidden cenote.

Itinerary

🚐 Pick-up and Journey to the Caves

We begin with pick-up at your hotel in downtown Oaxaca. We will head towards the municipality of San Sebastián, enjoying the landscape along the way.

🕳️ Exploration of the Underground Caves

Upon arrival, we will begin the main tour of the caves. We will walk along 420 meters of natural passageways and chambers, where our guide will explain the formation of the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites that decorate the place.

🌊 Option: Underground River

For the more adventurous, there is the option to deviate from the main path and descend 50 meters to visit an underground river. This additional experience will allow you to see the watercourse that has sculpted these caverns for millennia.

💦 Option: Underground Cenote

The other available option is to visit a cenote within the cave system. Here you can change into your swimsuit, enjoy a refreshing dip, and swim in its clear waters for as long as you wish.

🚐 Return to Oaxaca

After this immersion into the underground world, we will begin our return journey, arriving at approximately 7:00 PM at Oaxaca City’s Zócalo.

For the main cave tour, knowing how to swim is not necessary. However, if you choose the cenote option, you will need to know how to swim to fully enjoy the aquatic experience.

3. Is the tour suitable for people with claustrophobia?

The main tour involves enclosed spaces and sometimes narrow passageways. If you suffer from severe claustrophobia, we recommend evaluating whether this tour is suitable for you. The river and cenote options involve additional descents to greater depths.

4. What should I do with my belongings during the aquatic part of the tour?

We recommend bringing a water-resistant backpack or a dry bag to protect your belongings (phone, dry clothes, towel) if you plan to visit the cenote or the river. In the vehicle, you can leave things you don’t need during the exploration.
